MUSEU DE LA TORNERIA

Schedule: From Monday to Friday from 9h to 13h. Weekends by reservation telephone 93 859 64 76

The “Museu de la Torneria” explains the Catalonia industrialization from an artisan craft, the wood and horn turner, and that, with the arrival of industrialization, became a complementary to the textile industry. In the Middle Ages there is already evidence of the presence of turners. In the XVII century there was a guild of turners and in the XIX century a high concentration of turn industries is produced, which have lasted until today.

The industry of turning wood on a lathe has been a very important link with the region and specifically in the pre-Pyrenees forest, where the raw material was extracted. The Museum follows the history of this profession, closely linked to Torelló and also the villages of the “Vall del Ges”: San Vicenç de Torelló and Sant Pere de Torelló.
